Curse Broken

It’s no Secret by now that there is a curse that exists in the Joplin Fantasy Football League. Since the leagues inception in 2005 the team with the best record in the JFFL has never advanced to the Super Bowl much less won it.
The Mean Machine back in the Super Bowl and looking for their 3rd title haven’t been immune to this curse. In fact this curse has grabbed firmly a hold of the two time Champions on three occasions. in 2005 the Mean Machine took the best record in the JFFL into the playoffs having only 3 losses only to fall to the K.C. Tarheels. The Tarheels went on to win their first and only Fantasy title although they would play a role in the curse again a few years later. In 2006 the Machine again strolled into the playoffs losing only 2 times during the year only once in their division and with a record ( that still stands today)nine weekly prizes. They would however feel the bite of the curse again losing to the Metropolis Marvels who would go on to lose to the Warmongers and give the NFC their only Bowl win. As mentioned before the Tarheels would again play a role in the curse but this time it would be the role of the victim. In 2007 they rolled into the playoffs sporting a 3 loss record but ran into the steam rolling Mean Machine who used the win to propel themselves to a Super Bowl win and to avenge their playoff loss in 2005. In 2008 it was the Metropolis Marvels turn to feel the sting. In one of the closest races in the history of the NFC the K.C. Tarheels went into the playoffs sporting a 4 loss record and barely getting the title of best record in the JFFL. In the end the Curse won out and the newly formed Midnight Marauders bombed them out of the playoffs and went on to their first and only Super Bowl win in their two year existence. The next two years a familiar song was played. First to the Tarheels in 2009 when they would take the best record of 9-3 into the playoffs and be outed once again by the Mean Machine who would go on to win their second Super Bowl Title. It wouldn’t take long for the Mean Machine to feel the backlash of the vicious curse once again. In 2010 the Machine rolled in to the playoffs with a 3 loss record and a huge underdog opponent in the Carthage Krangs. The Krangs fought the favored Machine to the closest playoff game in JFFL history winning 59 to 54 and riding the momentum all the way to a blow out win in the Super Bowl against the Spanish Inquisition.
Finally in 2011 THE CURSE has been put to rest. The Mean Machine finally broke through the wall that has held so many back including themselves. It is not yet known if they will carry it on to a Championship but one thing that is known is that the fear of the number one overall seed has finally been shed.
